Nature. Woodland. Magic.

This 10 x 11 metre back garden was heavily overgrown, requiring extensive clearance and soil improvement. The client was keen to retain the magical feeling of the original overgrowth - while actually having it function as a usable space. Large mature trees provide dappled shade and canopy cover is provided at every level to encourage birds and other wildlife into the garden.

Status: Completed.

Weathered steel arch surrounded by planting

The resulting garden is very natural in feel with an emphasis on self-seeding plants like foxgloves, forget-me-nots, bluebells and poppies that will wander around and tell their own stories in years to come.

Hard landscaping has been kept to a minimum and wherever possible we used found materials, embracing things like the derelict rockery and elderly, crumbling, mossy walls which are perfect for plants to grow in.
