Shades of Green

This sleek, contemporary family garden combines stunning hard landscaping materials and layered textural foliage. The garden slopes up away from the house so we introduced terracing to create two, level, usable spaces. At the top of the garden the client’s classic car takes pride of place and huge full width Maxlight windows in the open plan kitchen maximise the view of the garden, which is on display year round. Acid-washed galvanised steel retaining walls are uplit at night by in-ground lights along their length, and bespoke cut limestone stepping stones lead you through the lawn to the sun terrace at the top of the garden - just the right size for a couple of sunloungers while you watch the kids play on the rustic arch oak swing on the level below. We even incorporated the clients’ Chinese Foo Dog statue within the planting beds where over time he will be surrounded by a sea of green foliage.
